LLPS Quarterly Membership Meeting, Thursday July 16

Lagoon Pass project open for questions July 16

at Little Lagoon Preservation Society meeting

Don Powell, operations engineer with the Alabama Department of Transportation, will speak at the summer Little Lagoon Preservation Society meeting Thursday, July 16, 5:30 p.m. at the Gulf Shores Activity Center, 260 Clubhouse Drive.

Topics to be addressed include Lagoon Pass dredging, seawall design, and the natural coastal process. A dredging trigger was declared May 15, but the pass remained restricted until June 15. Water flow impacts salinity and bacteria levels as well as recreation.

The first half hour of the meeting is an opportunity to mingle and enjoy refreshments. The program begins at 6, and will include a question-and-answer period. The public is invited.

LLPS was formed in 1991 to preserve, protect, and enhance Little Lagoon. LLPS meets quarterly. Membership is open to local residents and visitors. To find out more about the group, visit
